Gonna need more pictures/info. Engine/car? Where is this located on engine?
It looks like a sensor from this picture. It doesn't look like a pipe leading to a fitting. It looks like wires.

I assume you're talking about the brass hex thing with a wire coming off of it? That's a coolant temp sensor.
What is this on and how bad is your leak?

Ford 2V intake manifold....and that's the sender for your coolant temperature gauge. Take it out, wrap with teflon tape and call it a day.

But but doesn't it need to ground through the manifold?

93 crown Vic, coolant leaking from top of engine, and dripping from the bottom.

Yes, don't use teflon tape, use a liquid sealer on it of some sort. Teflon tape is used all the time and it's very likely it will get cut through and direct contact made, but i've also seen it insulate the sensor many times.

Darn, Ford's aren't my forte. But if you don't have a pressure tester, start with that sensor and see if that takes care of it. I've seen loads of sensors leak very aggressively and look like something much worse is the real culprit.

To me it looks like the coolant might be leaking through the sensor itself, not around it. If that's the case it will need to be replaced. I've seen then fail this way many times, more than I've seen them leak past the threads.

It will cut through it. If it doesn't, just take it out and redo it. The thing sits right on top of the manifold in plain view. Takes no time to remove.
